One day seems inadequate for recognizing the sacrifices of the brave men and women who have served our country. At Gulf Coast Supply, we like to think that every day is Veterans Day.
Today, we honor and salute our coworkers who once proudly wore the uniforms of our nation’s military. As part of the Gulf Coast family, they bring a wealth of experience earned while serving both at home and abroad. Their service stretches from the 1980s to just a few years ago. They were corporals and captains, aircraft mechanics and computer techs and infantry leaders.
Their contributions to our way of life enrich us all. Thank you for your service.
Here’s what some of our coworkers who are veterans told us about their service.
Dawn Borgo
Southeast Outside Sales Manager

Years of service: 8
Dawn is a Desert Storm veteran. She enlisted as an aircraft mechanic on cargo aircraft and graduated to several other aircraft including fighters, helicopters and commercial aircraft. She became a commissioned officer in 1992. She trained to become a flight engineer and completed an initial tour of duty and an additional 6 months in the Air Force Reserves in 1995.
Daniel Corn
Director of Supply Chain

Years of service: 12
Daniel was an ROTC cadet at the University of Iowa. After graduating in May 2008, he went to Fort Benning, GA, where he was on active duty for more than four years with the 3rd Infantry Division, 3rd Brigade 2-69AR. During his time there, he was deployed to Iraq for Operation Iraqi Freedom VII. After active duty, Daniel stayed with the Georgia National Guard and was called back in 2013 to serve in Afghanistan. He left the Army after returning to the States.
His Army career started on Feb. 13, 2004 as a PV-1 (Private) when he went to basic training and ended in May 2016 as a Captain on a battalion staff.
His photo was taken while he was a cadet participating in the Bataan Memorial Death March at White Sands Missile Range.

Charity joined the Army National Guard in 2007. In 2013, she switched to the Army Reserve. While serving, she had the opportunity to train in Georgia, South Carolina, Washington, Texas and Germany and did a tour in Iraq.
She specialized in computer technology and got to cross-train with food inspectors and veterinarians.

Dave’s overseas experience is extensive. He served in the Gulf War and the Global War on Terrorism, including deployments in operations Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom and Restore Hope. He was also deployed to Bosnia/Herzegovina and was stationed in or deployed to nations as varied as the Netherlands and England, Turkey and Saudi Arabia, and Abu Dhabi and Korea.

MOS:63 Bravo – light wheel diesel vehicle mechanic
Steven was a corporal at Fort Lewis, WA, near Tacoma. His unit performed all maintenance and related operations for a 40-vehicle motor pool.
Fort Lewis, which merged with McChord Air Force Base in 2010 to become Joint Base Lewis-McChord, is headquarters for the 7th Infantry Division and one of the largest military reservations in the United States.
David Young

MOS: Mechanized, also known as 11 MIC
David was a dismount squad leader on an M2A2 Bradley fighting vehicle, and also a 60 gunner and dismount squad leader. He was part of a training brigade at Fort Benning, GA, that trained enlisted personnel and officers from West Point.
